An update for you regarding the building of a basketball hoop at Haruatai Park.

It’s great to be getting on with building a keyhole-sized (half court) basketball court at Haruatai Park for the Ōtaki community after considering a range of possible sites. Due to the court size and feedback from people we talked to or those who completed an online survey, the preferred location for the court is the bottom plateau, in the western grass area. The court will contribute to the overall playground upgrade. Planning and design will be done to ensure good use of the space, allowing all ages to enjoy the bottom plateau together.

Work will start over the coming weeks, constructing the court in this preferred location. The existing hoop will be utilised in the new court which means we’ll need to do some work on the hoop, getting it looking just right. This process will take two where the hoop will be removed and taken offsite.
