The talented Performing Arts students from Ōtaki College are bubbling with excitement as the date for their major production approaches. Hours and hours of hard work and preparation have been put in by the students and teachers to bring together what will be an incredible night, full of fun, laughter, and reminiscing to the best of the '80s music.  The show will display Ōtaki College's finest talent, with over 40 students involved. There will be a hilarious short play from the year 10 drama class, who question the issue of fame and fight to be the star. Next up will be the Year 11 drama students who will perform a NZ play, String of Dreams, written by Denise Walsh and Directed by teacher Anna Groves. Ms Groves said "this story is focused on how much teens can struggle to be accepted and the pressure of growing up, while still hanging onto childhood dreams". The final play will be "Mirror Mirror on the Wall", written by one of our very own year 13 students Mariarangi Carkeek (17) and performed by the senior drama students. The play explores teen clicks, with a crazy mum and an overly "nice" teacher thrown into the mix. The audience is guaranteed to laugh out loud! The audience will leave with a smile on their faces after a funky dance - "celebration time...come on!"
