Ōtaki College recently supported the NZ Bully Free week theme of “Let’s talk about it”. As a lead-in, Student Council reps asked their kaiarahi class members some questions related to bullying. The outcomes were then presented in a student led assembly. The Revolution tour gave a powerful performance to students during the week. Key messages were given about reaching out during life’s more difficult times and talking with people who can offer support. For a number of students this was an emotional and thought provoking performance. The week concluded with our annual pink shirt day with a lunchtime barbecue, musical performances and the students and staff forming the words ‘Be Kind’. The money raised funded the Revolution tour and a donation to the Mental Health Foundation.
