Live Reporting

In 2016, we are introducing ‘live reporting’ through the Kamar Parent Portal as our primary means of reporting on student progress.

The rationale for the change is that it is a more current, immediate way to report on student achievement. It will also allow teachers to report more specifically on different areas of the curriculum as well as more clearly on progress towards certain assessments.

Comments will be brief and provide specific feedback linked to either Achievement Standards (in the senior school) or curriculum objectives and/or learning for the term (in the junior school). The comments might be more informal than traditional reports.

The biggest change is that there will be no set time that these reports will be ‘issued’. The nature of this type of reporting means that each department decides when it is most timely to update parents on progress. Comments will be dated so you will be able to see when a teacher has commented on an area of the curriculum. We will still be providing the report on our ROAR expectations each term.

The college will send out reminders each term to check the Kamar Parent Portal. Parents without internet access are welcome to come into school and access the report through a Chromebook in the Student Centre.

There will also be additional opportunities to meet with teachers face-to-face. The first is scheduled for May 19th. Appointments will be available between 10am and 7:30pm.

What this means for parents and caregivers:
- All reports will be accessed through the Kamar Parent Portal
- You will need to check the Parent Portal every 2-3 weeks for new comments
- It would also be a good time to check we have your current email address.

Reminders regarding how to log onto the Kamar Parent Portal will be sent home by email and by post next week.
