Ōtaki College students and staff have taken a whole school approach to the issue of bullying through support of Pink Shirt Day. It has been an opportunity for Head Students and the Peer Mediation Restorative team to promote positive messages about standing together and taking action against bullying. The students promoted Pink Shirt Day through an assembly where they gave messages about what bullying is, what to do about it and how to get help. The intention is to raise awareness so that Ōtaki College can be a school where students and staff feel safe, develop positive relationships and support each other as needed.

Pink Shirt Day involved a range of activities including inter form competitions, sausage sizzle, cupcake stall and the formation of a pink heart on the field. It was a fun day with excellent 'buy in' from staff and students and another opportunity for students to extend their leadership skills.  Click for photos.
