There has been a very positive response this year to fundraising for the World Vision 40 hour famine. Clare McInerney-Heather and Tevita Kata attended the student leadership training course in March and a student team was recruited who have led the famine.

Our goal was to raise $3000. This has been exceeded with the current total being $3900 with more money still being collected. This is the highest amount Otaki College has raised.

Our Curriculum Leader of English Ms Jess Wilson raised over $1000, an outstanding effort. A number of students raised over $100 and will receive a certificate in assembly for their efforts.

We also had a sausage sizzle, bake stall and mufti day to support people in Bangladesh.

The student council have also begun discussions about raising money to support people in New Zealand and and at a local level. There is currently a food bank house competition occurring for donations to the Otaki Food bank. Donations can be given to the student centre up until the end of this term.
