Ōtaki College Girls' leadership and personal development
Manawanui Wahine is a programme which provides support, guidance and encouragement to our young women as they navigate their way through secondary school and beyond. There are 3 focus areas; personal development, fitness/ physical activity and service for others. On a personal level the aim of the group is to provide activities and opportunities which develop confidence, positive self identity and leadership skills. In addition making a positive contribution to others, school and community are also really important aspects of the work the group does.
The programme runs two mornings from 7:30am to 8:30am and one lunchtime each week. This allows us to accommodate other school commitments and things the girls might be involved in outside of school. There will be shower facilities available before school starts at 9 am for days which are practically based. The programme has been developed for Years 11-13 girls at Otaki College.
