Enrolment

Enrolment at Ōtaki College in 2022

The Board invites applications from parents who wish to enrol their children at Ōtaki College for next year. Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available here, or in hard copy from the school office.

Applications should be made using the school enrolment form below. The deadline for receipt of applications for out-of-zone places is 15 October 2021. Parents of students who live within the home zone should also apply by this date to assist the school to plan appropriately for next year.

The Board has determined that up to 15 places are likely to be available for out-of-zone students in 2022. The exact number of places will depend on the number of applications received from students who live within the school’s home zone.

If the number of out-of-zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot. If a ballot is required it will be held on 29th October 2021 . Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.

I am delighted to welcome our prospective students and families to Ōtaki College.

Our college is a Year 7 to 13 Secondary School situated on the beautiful Kapiti Coast 74 km from Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand. Our historic town of Ōtaki is close to rivers, sea, bush and mountains and is especially popular with outdoor enthusiasts. We have around 500 students at the College meaning we can enjoy and foster the feel of a smaller community college where all teachers and students have the chance to know one another and we can all gather at the same time in our assembly hall to celebrate success and view student and visiting performances together.

The students enjoy a safe, supportive and creative learning environment. We place strong emphasis on building relationships with students to unlock their dreams and aspirations and allow them to achieve their full potential. Ōtaki College has high expectations of its students and our staff and community celebrate high levels of academic success. The College encourages all students to strive for excellence not only in academic study but also in leadership, sport and cultural pursuits. A strong sense of community is built through the College House system.

Ōtaki College is a restorative school. It sets high expectations of behaviour at all times through the Schoolwide Positive Behaviour for Learning programme and has been recognised nationally for its work in this area.

Please feel free to contact me, or the Year Level Deans, if you have any questions you wish to discuss.

Andy Fraser, Principal.
